Tyres NorthamptonIn Race 1, Hill grabbed the lead from championship leader Sutton, using his rear-wheel drive BMW 330e M Sport's superior traction. The 29-year-old challenged the race leader as Hill struggled for tyre temperature in the opening stages. The pair banged door handles at Cascades, but the BMW driver kept the lead ahead of the Ford Focus ST.
As the race progressed, Sutton rechallenged Hill, and the leading duo extended their advantage over Toyota Gazoo Racing UK's Ricky Collard on the 2.692-mile circuit. The reigning BTCC champion Tom Ingram caught Collard napping at Old Hall Corner and slipped up the inside in a decisive move for third place.
Hill survived the early waves of attack from Sutton and built a slim one-second advantage six laps into the race after his Goodyear tyres got up to temperature in the 15-lap race. With four laps to go, Turkington forced his way into the top 10, squeezing past his Team BMW teammate Stephen Jelley before overtaking Árón Taylor-Smith a few turns later at Shell Oils Corner.
Hill managed the gap to Sutton superbly and took his first win of the season ahead of Sutton as Ingram rounded off the podium. Taylor-Smith crashed at Lodge on the last lap after contact with Dan Rowbottom on a circuit that's very tough on brakes.
Race 1's winner started the second race of the day from pole position for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport and kept the lead ahead of Sutton and Ingram heading into Old Hall Corner. At the end of a chaotic opening lap, Hill led in front of Sutton, who sat close to the 29-year-old's rear wing.
Four laps into the race, Will Powell retired after hitting the wall, which saw the race director call for the Safety Car. The Safety Car came in at the end of Lap 6, and Hill perfected the restart, maintaining the lead. A couple of laps were added to the race distance, making it a 17-lap event.
Turkington overtook Collard for fourth place at Old Hall Corner 11 laps into the race, in a textbook overtake going up the inside of the Toyota Corolla GR Sport. Later, in the closing stages, Sutton held second ahead of Ingram and the hard-charging Northern Irishman in P4.
The Hyundai i30 driver used all his experience to defend third place from Turkington, who damaged his BMW 330e M Sport's bonnet after contact at Lodge. Hill took his second win of the day ahead of Sutton, keeping his composure up front amongst all the carnage behind him at Oulton Park.

Cammish suffered a lacklustre start dropping three places down to fifth on the opening lap as the stewards required the Safety Car's services to retrieve Sutton's stricken car. The Safety Car ended four laps into the race, and Morgan's restart kept the lead ahead of Turkington in a BMW 330e M Sport 1-2-3.
Three laps were added to the race distance, making it an 18-lap race as Turkington and Hill got past Morgan for the race lead with 11 laps to go. The Northern Irishman resisted Hill's pressure and took his second win of the year for Team BMW ahead of Hill, with Morgan third.
